About Us

Ngāi Tahu are the iwi comprised of Ngāi Tahu whānui; that is, the collective of the individuals who descend from the five primary hapū of Ngāi Tahu, Ngati Mamoe and Waitaha, namely Kati Kuri, Ngati Irakehu, Kati Huirapa, Ngāi Tuahuriri and Ngāi Te Ruahikihiki.

Our families would like to share our Ngai Tahu tanga South Island history and culture with you our visitors and our fellow New Zealanders.

We provide a four to six hour cultural experience that encapsulates our history through a series of journeys highlighting our waka paddling experience (war canoe), historical site visits of Christchurch’s oldest settlers sites, a kiwi wildlife experience and Maori village and cultural performance.

Let us share our local Christchurch and Tribal stories of the first Maori and European settlers, their culture history and the working together needed in the early stages of the construction to the present day.

Join us and venture with us into our past through to the present day, as we share what makes our city, people and lands uniquely different and special for the rest of Aotearoa New Zealand.
